Graduation Planner tool

Graduation Planner is a degree-progress tool for making a plan of which courses to take in future semesters to help you stay on track for graduation.

If you are completing your degree and need to apply to graduate, use our graduation steps.

Graduation Planner retirement

Graduation Planner will be retired on January 30, 2026 and will no longer be available for making new plans or viewing existing plans. There are two reasons for this: APAS is being upgraded and the new version will not work with Graduation Planner, and Graduation Planner does not meet the digital accessibility requirements mandated by University policy and federal law.

The University will replace Graduation Planner with another system, but we do not know when this will be ready for students to use.

Saving Plans from Graduation Planner

When Graduation Planner retires on January 30, 2026, you will no longer be able to access the plans you have created. Be sure to save any plans you would like to reference in the future. Each plan will need to be saved separately.

Different ways to save plans

  • Use the print function within Graduation Planner:
    1. Open the plan you would like to save and click the “Print” button at the top of the page.
    2. You can then select a few options of what you would like to be included.
    3. Click the “View Print Version” button. This will display a printer-friendly version of the plan. From here, you can:
      1. Print the plan on paper.
      2. Use either the browser options or printing options to save as a PDF file.
  • Transcribe to another format: You can use the copy/paste functions to create a document (e.g., Google Doc, Google Sheet) with the information.

Alternatives to Graduation Planner

While the University will be providing a tool to replace Graduation Planner in the future, there will be a period of time when there isn’t a long-term planning tool available. During this time, you may wish to use another method for planning that other students have found helpful:

Modify a sample plan from the University catalog

An example of how to graduate in four years is provided for each major in the catalog.

Note: Degree requirements can change. Your APAS will always have the most up-to-date requirements you need to complete.

To modify a sample plan from the University catalog, use the following steps:

  1. Find your program in the University catalog.
  2. Click on the “Sample plan” tab and follow the links to the sample plan.
  3. Make a copy of the plan and edit it as you like.

Review the program sheet for your major to assist with planning

Contact your academic department or your collegiate unit advising office for a program sheet that provides information related to course sequencing and helpful tips related to planning courses in your major.

Use APAS, Schedule Builder, and University Catalogs

To use APAS, Schedule Builder, and University Catalogs as an alternative to Graduation Planner, complete the following steps:

  1. Run an APAS for your declared program (or a What-if APAS for another program you want to plan).
  2. Using the requirements you haven’t met, use Schedule Builder or University Catalogs to locate courses that fulfill those requirements.
    1. Note: Schedule Builder will display only courses that have been scheduled for a specific semester. University Catalogs will show all active courses and also when they are typically offered.
  3. Combine the information into a document with a section for each semester remaining for you. Please review your plan with your advisor.
