  • a variety of course options, including day, evening, and online classes are available throughout the year
  • University of Minnesota certificate programs are not eligible for federal financial aid programs. Estimate the cost of your certificate program

Starting your certificate program

1. Explore certificate programs by searching the University Catalogs.

On the University Catalogs website, select the appropriate "Undergraduate credit certificate" program type to find information about available certificate programs and their requirements.

2. Talk with the program director and faculty.

3. Submit certificate application and official transcripts from previous institutions.

Submit the Application for Undergraduate UMD Certificate Programs.

Send official transcripts to University of Minnesota Duluth.

4. Set up your University Account.

Initiate your UMN account after you receive confirmation and your UMN ID.

  • Your UMN account gives you access to University online systems, including University email and the MyU portal, where you will register for classes, see your grades, and pay your bill.
  • Note: You do not need to complete this step if your UMN account is active.

Completing your certificate program

1. Submit the certificate program completion form.
2. Verify and update your mailing address to ensure you receive your diploma.
3. Your certificate will be recorded on your UMD official transcript.
4. You will receive a University of Minnesota diploma documenting the award of your certificate.

Request to drop a certificate program

  • If you have made the decision to drop your certificate program, please send an email to [email protected] asking that your certificate program be dropped.
    • Please include your full name, student ID number, and name of the certificate to be dropped.
