Midwest Nonresident Request

This form collects information used to determine if you qualify for tuition equivalent to MN in-state tuition.

  • Apply at least one month before the start of the term if you are seeking Midwest nonresident tuition benefits. It is to your advantage to apply early so you won’t be assessed tuition at the nonresident rate for that term.
  • The final deadline is the last day of classes at the University of Minnesota Duluth for the term benefits are needed. If you wish to participate in the program for the entire academic year, your application must be received by the last day of scheduled classes in the fall term. Applications will not be processed retroactively.
  • If you are a dependent student, you will need to provide information and upload documentation from your parent(s) / guardian to verify they are a resident(s) of a Midwest Nonresident state.*   
  • If you are an independent student, you will need to provide information and documentation to verify you are a resident of a Midwest Nonresident state.* 

* Midwest states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio or South Dakota or the Canadian Province of Ontario.
