The University of Minnesota enrollment system does not allow students to enroll in classes with overlapping meeting times, but sometimes it can be appropriate for a student to do so. In order to enroll in classes with overlapping meeting times, students must complete this Class Time Conflict Approval Request.
This form requires the approval of all instructors involved in a class time conflict. Without instructor approval, you will not be allowed to register for classes that overlap. Verbal permission will not allow you to register.
Before completing this form:
- Resolve any holds on your account that will prevent registration.
- Consult with the instructors of impacted courses before completing this form to discuss the nature of the conflict and your proposed plan.
- If an instructor is not assigned to a course, contact the department offering the course to determine the appropriate email address to use for the instructor in your request.
Use this form if...
- You want to enroll in classes with overlapping times
Don't use this form if...
- All instructors have not granted approval to enroll in the requested course(s)
- You are able to register for the classes on your own in MyU (if there is a class time conflict between two classes, MyU will not allow a student to register for the conflicting class)
