The Minnesota State Grant helps students from low and moderate income families pay for college. To be considered for this grant, you must be a Minnesota resident pursuing your first undergraduate certificate or degree.

Application deadlines
Your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or MN Dream Act Application must be submitted to the federal processing center by the established deadline date below in order to be considered for Minnesota State Grant funding. If you miss the deadline, you will not be eligible for a Minnesota State Grant.
- 2026-2027 deadline: The 2026-27 deadline is September 29, 2026 for the fall 2026 term, February 11, 2027 for the spring 2027 term and June 8, 2027 for the summer 2027 term. 2026-27 FAFSA submissions after these term deadlines will not be considered for MN State Grant eligibility.
Prorated
Your Minnesota State Grant may be prorated if you enroll in fewer than 15 credits a semester.
